Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Richard Hornshaw will join the firm to lead the European disputes practice in London. Hornshaw, a highly respected litigator, represents a range of financial institutions and major corporates in their most significant and challenging cross-border disputes, with a particular focus on finance and securities law matters, as well as insolvency and restructuring situations.
“Richard’s experience conducting and resolving high-stakes international disputes perfectly complements our London transactional practices,” said Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad S. Karp. “His remarkable litigation track record, particularly in transaction-related disputes and contentious restructurings, will prove invaluable to our clients.”
Hornshaw, who previously led the international disputes group at another global law firm, has handled many of the highest-profile transaction-related and restructuring-related disputes in the London market, including cases that have gone before the English Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. His recent engagements include representing an ad hoc group of noteholders in securing the first English Court of Appeal judgement to overturn a restructuring plan; and a Europe-based multinational company on a novel application of the English court’s jurisdiction to redeem secured debt by way of payment into court, among other matters.
“I am thrilled to join Paul, Weiss and its exceptional Litigation Department,” Hornshaw said. “The opportunity to collaborate with such talented colleagues in London and across the firm’s global platform to help our clients navigate their most complex international disputes is incredibly exciting.”
Hornshaw has repeatedly been recognized by leading publications and legal directories, including Chambers UK and The Legal 500, for his accomplishments and expertise in finance litigation.
Hornshaw earned his Legal Practice Course and Common Professional Examination from The College of Law and his B.A. from the University of Bristol. He is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales and in Hong Kong, and is a qualified Solicitor-Advocate and a CEDR-accredited mediator.
The Paul, Weiss Litigation Department has been the first choice to defend and prosecute the highest-profile litigations of our time for decades.
